A kind blog reader suggested a gross hack which rescued my vows. (Cat, strings, and grep should never be a part of the process of the vows, though admittedly in my case it might seem appropriate.) Krissa may marry me (and continue to deal with my operating system) yet.

I am sorry Luis, but you completely misunderstood this part: “Cat, strings, and grep should never be a part of the process of the vows”.
These a natural tests applied to your from the Linux kernel to tests your manhood before the marriage. I hacked that feature into the kernel myself – quite tricky to determine that the user is about to be married, but I got it working.
